I had been contemplating taking a break from my riding lessons. I couldn’t seem to let go of the stress of the week when I went to the barn, when it used to be my sanctuary. The lesson I learned today: be careful what you wish for.
I had been at the barn less than 15 minutes when Josh, the horse I was supposed to ride, spooked at nothing and landed square on my foot. Thankfully, it’s just a hairline fracture on my big toe and a small cut. And a blood blister. So, I’ll have to wear this dumb boot for 2 weeks, and be gentle with my toe for the next 6 weeks. The writing contest I’m in will be having round 2 two weeks from now, so I probably won’t ride until the last Saturday of the month. Sigh. Oh well, distance makes the heart grow fonder.
I asked for a break, and I sure as hell got one.
